Turkey burgers tend to get a bad wrap. Most people think of them as dry, flavorless, boring ways to get some protein when you are on a diet. This turkey burger is definitely not any of those. by adding in the fat from the mayo and the eggs, and cooking it in oil it creates a very juicy and very flavorful burger.

I decided to use my Jerk Rub as the main flavoring ingredient for these burgers because the combination of the spices work so well with poultry. It has just enough spice and just enough sweetness to bring out the flavors of the turkey without overpowering it.

For toppings I went with a pretzel bun and topped it with Chipotle mayo, lettuce and avocado. This combination complements the turkey burger both texture wise and flavor wise.

I served these burgers with Crispy Oven Fried Potatoes. They would go great with anything you would normally have with a burger. For me its a nice cold beer.

  • 1 Avocado 1 Sliced

  • Fresh Lettuce

  • Easy Chipotle Mayo

  • 1 T 1 Butter

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Turkey Burger Patty
  • 1 lb 1 Ground Turkey

  • 2 2 Eggs

  • 1/4 C 1/4 Panko Bread Crumbs

  • 1 T 1 Jerk Rub

  • 1 T 1 Mayo

  • 2 t 2 Dijon Mustard

  • 2 t 2 Worcestershire Sauce

Directions

  • Turkey Burger Patty
  • In small bowl mix together the eggs, mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and jerk rub. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
  • In separate large bowl gently mix ground turkey with panko bread crumbs. After fully combined mix in the egg mixture and form into 4 even patties.
  • Place on a plate, or tray, and cover in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cooking / Burger Assembly
  • After turkey burgers have rested for 30 minutes start a frypan, large enough to cook all burgers at same time, over medium-high heat.
  • When pan is ready add the butter. After butter has melted lightly season each patty with salt and pepper and place in pan. Turn heat down to medium and cook for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes has passed check the side of the burger that was on the pan, if it has developed a nice golden brown color flip burger over.
  • Continue to cook burger on 2nd side until internal temperature is at 160°F. At this point add the cheese to the burger and cover pan. Turn off heat and allow the cheese to melt. The residual heat from the pan will finish cooking the burger.
  • Before removing burger from the pan check to see that the patty is at least at 165°F, then remove and allow to rest.
  • While burger is resting prepare your toppings. Slice avocado, slice bun, wash lettuce, and apply a nice thick layer of chipotle mayo. Allow burger to rest for at least 5 minutes before assembly.
